MY TWO CENTS: Wow! Talk about an excellent TBR list for you! I was super lucky that I managed to read most of these books last year (and have gushed about them on one of the prior 9 awards posts because they ALL have made prior appearances.) and just have These Healing Hills, Before the Rain Falls, and The Day the Angels Fell  left to read this year -- and I need to get on it since those last two authors already have new books coming in the next couple of months! (You can watch for Camille DiMaio's The Way of Beauty on tour with LSBBT in May!) Many of these other authors are cranking out the new titles, too: Melissa Lenhardt has Heresy, the start of a new series; Kimberly Fish has Harmon General, the follow-up to The Big InchEliza Maxwell has a new stand-alone, The Widow's Watcher (LSBBT tour in May); and Clark Hays and Kathleen McFall have Dam Nation, the next Bonnie & Clyde book (LSBBT tour in May) How they can manage to crank out books faster than I can read them amazes me!

MY TWO CENTS: This is so exciting! We had a lot of non-fiction books on tour, and I read a lot of them -- but only two of these six that made the final cut. The Rebirth of Hope, Sau Le Hudecek's story of her immigration that brought her from Vietnam to my home town of Fort Worth, was an amazing story of bravery, strength, determination, and perseverance. I remember that when I was reading it, I would frequently stop to share a story with one of my kids or husband. She never gave up. Never stopped working for her goals. Never let anything stop her in a time and place where the barriers were plentiful. Incredible. And Yonderings is a completely different kind of incredible. Author Ben English transported me to Big Bend, Texas of old and shared his discoveries and reflections and recollections of his life and lessons. Practical in its tips, magical in its descriptions, I still feel the book and the place tugging at me. For the other winning titles, we had terrific special features that gave me a connection to the books an pique my interest still.

MY TWO CENTS: THIS is a big one. Texas books and Texas authors are at the very core of Lone Star Book Blog Tours -- it's what we do (with a few strays into Texas-y things that don't necessarily happen in Texas but COULD! Ha!) So, to name a book we toured as THE BEST TEXAS BOOK is really something. What makes a stand-out Texas book? Is it capturing the people? The place? The mood and feel and smell and all around vibe? Yes, yes, yes (and yes, yes, yes). A Texan knows when an author has nailed it, and these books did. We've got small town and big city, historical and contemporary, earthly and other-worldly, and HALLELUJAH, we've got breakfast!

I read three of these books (click title for reviews) and as I may have mentioned on one of the preceding six awards posts, the rest are on the TBR list. Since I've blathered on about The Grave Tender and Nowhere Near a good bit already (THEY ARE REAAAAALLY GOOD), let me mention The Big Inch. In addition to learning a whole new segment of history (how had I never learned of this vital pipeline that carried East Texas crude all the way to Pennsylvania?), I fell in love with the city of Longview and the characters who made this story sing. I am super excited that the sequel, Harmon General, is in the editing stages now and can't wait to get back into that world.

MY TWO CENTS: Well this was just a lot of fun! Since I've read some of these, one thing that I always appreciate is when a cover matches the story -- and I am pretty sure all of these do. Notice the final two covers of the Sawbones series are here -- nothing purdier than the whole dang set sitting side-by-side. I remember when I first read The Grave Tender, I kept waiting to figure out where the cover fit in with the story. It was a real ah-ha moment. I know that the sassy cover to The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck was a perfect complement to that story -- I could tell by reading all those awesome special features we had on the tour. And I remember everyone falling in love with the dog in Sandpiper Cove, so this winner is not a surprise.

MY TWO CENTS: When I say that I love my job, I mean it. Over the span of six or eight weeks - about how long it takes to build one of our fabulous blog tours - I have the privilege of getting to know many of the amazing authors that go on tour with LSBBT. We put a lot of work in beforehand, but the best of the best also put in considerable work during their tours to interact with the bloggers and the readers so that their tours are taken to the next level. I really admire these four people for their commitment to their craft -- and for just being all-around excellent humans. I've only met one of them in person -- DiAnn was kind enough to schmooze for pictures with me at the 2017 TLA Conference after we toured Deep Extraction, but when we finally meet, Ben has promised to hike in Big Bend with me, Melissa has promised to drink an adult beverage (or several) with me, and Linda and I are probably going to hug, burst into tears, and watch a coffee date turn into a lunch date turn into a dinner date -- and then we'll just repeat the next day! LOVE them all. (And a whole lotta others.) Aww, shucks. Now I'm having all the feels.
