Christmas Eve is a night of mystery and magic but not always in ways we expect. Things lurk in the shadows, and they're not the least bit jolly or merry. Let's just say some presents are better left unopened.
‘Tis the season to be screaming along with our thirteen tales of holiday horrors. Ghosts. Monsters. Demons. And more!
This Christmas, be careful what you wish for...

Hall Ways Review:
What a fun bunch of spooky stories. Frights range from being subtle & eerie to cheesy & creepy, to outright scary! Each of the 13 stories is short and well-written, making it an excellent choice for impatient and/or reluctant readers. For me, three tales stood out above the others: "The Stench of Christmas" by Lea Story (eeriness stays with you), "Clockwork Christmas" by Richard Ankers (creepy. SO creepy.), and "Die, Nutcracker, Die!" by Dax Varley (scary! not putting my nutcrackers on display this year, thank you very much).
Many of the stories involve otherworldly repercussions for greed, selfishness, and general naughtiness, but a few have outright evil jumping in and ruining the Christmas cheer. There's something for every scary story lover since styles include steampunk, fantasy, psychological, mythological, and more. There's some violence in almost every story, but most (not all! sensitive readers beware) of the gory details are left to the readers' imagination. Middle-graders and older will get a kick out of this book and will likely read and re-read.
Thank you to Leap Books for providing me an eBook copy in exchange for my honest review -- the only kind I give.
